Why did you sign up to Reading Ahead?
Because reading is very good for you – some students are very shy, so reading in a group helps, and listening to each other read helps pronunciation. Also, reading helps with spelling.
What do you enjoy about Reading Ahead?
I enjoy the stories and reading them to my younger children. I like taking turns reading aloud with my class.
How has Reading Ahead helped you in your studies?
I have learnt new words; I have also learnt about other cultures like Vietnam and famous people like Nelson Mandela.
What have you liked reading during Reading Ahead? Do you have a favourite book or author?
I like reading inspiring books about real people; my favourite books were about Mandela and one about Martin Luther King.
What do you plan to do after College? How could reading help with this?
I am returning to study Level 1, then I want to work in Health and Social Care. I am a foster Carer now and I want to work with children or helping elderly people.
Reading will help with this because I will learn new vocabulary, and I can learn about other people and cultures. This will help me to understand and talk to lots of different people and clients.
Also, if I read every day it develops my mind and helps with my confidence.
